    Superintendent/Principal

I am thrilled to be the new Superintendent/Principal for the Hydesville School District! I live in Hydesville and have experienced the incredible dedication of the school community as a parent and former board member.  It is truly an honor to be working with the students, staff, and families of this great school.

I’ve been an educator for thirty years in Humboldt County working in a variety of grade levels from kindergarten through eighth grades.  During my teaching career, I completed Master’s Degree coursework through the HSU Technology in Education program,  participated in several professional development activities including the Greater Redwood Area Science Project (GRASP), Redwood Writing Project (RWP), Redwood Area History/Social Studies Project (RAHSP), Literacy Coach’s Training, and also earned a Master of Science Degree in Education with an Emphasis in Elementary Literacy and Reading.

My administrative experience includes co-founding Redwood Prep Charter School and working as the administrator/director for RPrep from 2011 to 2016. I hold a Tier 1 and Tier 2 Administrative Credential along with certification obtained through the CSDC Administrative Leadership Academy and Chief Business Officer Training Program and certification as a Leading Edge Administrator in Technology through ACSA. I am anxious to begin the next phase of my professional career and to continue to grow in areas that best support the needs of the students and staff at Hydesville Elementary.

Hi! My name is Karen Rosser and I am the Kindergarten teacher here at Hydesville School. I also have the privilege of being the Vice Principal. This will be my tenth year at Hydesville. I grew up in Eureka, graduated from Eureka High School, and went onto college at Linfield College in Oregon. After graduation, I began my teaching career in Las Vegas, where I taught 4th grade and 2nd grade. I then returned home and taught two years for Eureka City Schools before landing my dream job, being apart of the Hydesville Family. I am a fourth generation elementary school teacher. I guess you could say it’s in my blood!

Greetings! I am privileged to be the first grade teacher for Hydesville Elementary! My past career was in non-profit management and I had dreamed of being a teacher my whole life. I took a leap of faith and received my teaching credential in 2015. I live with my two children, husband, and several pets. We enjoy exploring this beautiful county we live in and gardening in our spare time. My favorite part of working at Hydesville Elementary is the feeling of community. It is a place where teachers, support staff, parents, and students truly work together as a team to be the best we can. Go Wildcats!!!

I was raised in the Eel River Valley and grew up across the bridge.  I finished my schooling at Humboldt State University where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts Degree and Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential.  I have been teaching 13 years, 12 of which have been at Hydesville.  My husband Jesse and I have two small children, Dakota 5 and Drew 4 who keep us young.  I enjoy spending time at the lake with my husband and little ones as well as my family cabin in Bear River.  I am extremely proud to be part of such an amazing school and community who truly treat each other like family.  Looking forward to a great year!

When I graduated from Southern Trinity High School, I attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. This degree enabled me to obtain a position in the Wildlife and Hydrology department of a local timber company. I worked there for several years prior to returning to school for my Multiple Subjects and Secondary Science Credentials at Humboldt State University. My career with Hydesville school began in 2007 as a student teacher and through the years I have been lucky enough to have held different positions at the school and currently serve as the 5th Grade Teacher.

I am so excited to be the new 6th grade teacher at Hydesville School!  This is my first year teaching and I feel unbelievably lucky to be a part of the Hydesville community.  I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and moved to Humboldt County in 2009.  I received my B.S. from Wright State University and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Humboldt State.  Joel and I live in Ferndale with our dog Copper and are spending our free time fixing up our (very, VERY old) new house!  I look forward to these new adventures and can’t wait to get to know all of the Hydesville family.
